Having a blast!

A marriage is not about a wedding but about the beginning of a union and a family. The celebration of that beginning is what the wedding is all about. With that in mind I must emphasize how important it is to enjoy the planning of a wedding. It is such a wonderful day that comes and goes like lighting that every moment leading to it must be savored. And thus far I am enjoying every little detail about the whole process. I do understand that most won’t even notice all the different elements of the wedding (and as a person at a craft store told me “people will throw your invitations in the trash anyways”) I still reserve the right to enjoy myself and all the small things in life and in my wedding!

I am including these great pictures by Tanya Lippert Photography. This was a wedding that was anything but ordinary. Theirs was so magical and you can tell they enjoyed it so much.

Check out their amazing engagement pictures, you can tell this couple likes to have fun!

My Fiance...

So far I have blogged mostly about wedding ideas because my wedding is always on my mind as I (and Nancy) are planning the whole event. However, I must not forget the most important part of the wedding, and for me it is that I am marrying the man of my dreams! I know this sounds cliche, but seriously...Tony is such an amazing man, I am so proud of him, I love him so much. He is sweet, sincere, patient, thoughtful, extremely respectful, affectionate...I could go on and on for hours! It is hard to describe how I feel for him without sounding like a cheese ball, so I will stop now.
Here we are toasting at our engagement party. The photo was taken by my sister Vicky (she would kill me if I did not give her any credit).

Wearing color on my feet

I love, love, love shoes and so my shoes have become as important as my dress for my wedding. I am for sure bringing color to my tootsies by wearing a sunflower yellow pump with some added embellishments. I am hoping to add more color through Tony's tie just like Tec (wedding photographer) did in his wedding to the talented Chelsey from oh my deer! Their wedding was shot by the extremely talented Jose Villa.

Bridesmaids' attire

So here are the dresses the bridesmaids will be wearing. They are BCBG long dresses with a beautiful crossed back. All the girls look so stunning in it! These dresses were bought before a real theme was created for the wedding, so the color does not necessarily match the bold colors I would like to incorporate. Nevertheless, I will have to make it work. I decided to have the girls wear flowers in their hair and wear dangly earrings to give it that Latin look, and maybe carry a fan for a Spanish touch...but it is all up in the air. I need some ideas to make color work with their dresses. Maybe a sash?

My Wedding Board

I made this board to create a theme for my wedding. I want a latin themed wedding to celebrate my Guatemalan and my fiance's Mexican background. I also want the wedding to match the fun latin music that will be playing at the reception. This was extremely hard to do but I narrowed it down to using bold colors with a touch of few Latin elements. I hope it works!

Mood: latin, bold colors.
Palette: yellow, green, orange, fuchsia, and turquoise.

My First Blog.

I still don't know what the main theme for this blog will be, but I do know that it will be a place to jot down my thoughts, ideas, memories and so on. A place to celebrate life, family, and self. I chose the photo below because it looks like an image of a new courtship, or better yet, a new beginning.
